Olympic Mail

Did you guys watch the Olympics? For the first time in my life, I actually own a TV and was able to follow the games from the opening to the closing ceremony. It was so cool to experience the games while living in England. There was such a buzz in the country! I can't wait for the Paralympics to start tomorrow! Have you seen this and this brilliant video?

I'm happy to report that I managed to get my hands on a few official London 2012 cards. They're so colourful; I really like the design.

  1. Hi, fellow German blogger. :o) I watched so much TV during the Olympics, I thought the BBC did a beautiful job covering it. But Channel 4 is doing okay with the Paralympics, too, and the athletes are maybe even more amazing. I fear I am going to have an Olympics-shaped hole in my life when it is all over in a week.

    1. Hi Annika, it's always nice to hear from a fellow German in London:-)! And I know what you mean about an Olympic-shaped hole! We've been very spoilt with exciting events in the UK this year (the Royal Jubilee, the Royal wedding, the Olympics) - what will be next?! (I could really do with something exciting to look forward to t distract me from the dreadful English winter months.)

  2. I live in the UK and have loved it! For like two weeks I watched sport everyday! I watched both the opening and closing ceremony (and then the paralympics opening ceremony on Wednesday!)

We watched the opening ceremony in Millenium Square in Bristol - it was awesome! The second that Isambard Kingdom Brunel came on the screen the whole square just erupted - so many people were cheering. Then when we had the national anthem pretty much anyone who could stood for the National Anthem - apart from certain events where it's etiquette to stand for it I've never been somewhere where people have done that - I was bursting with pride at being British for the first time in my whole life I think

    1. I watched both the opening ceremonies and I especially loved the Olympics one. They did such a fabulous job!
I think I can relate to your feelings; I was in Germany in 2006 during the World Cup and there was such a great atmosphere in the whole country! Everybody was happy and celebrating sports together, I loved it!
